2 Counties Motorshow – EA SOC outing 26/6/11
 
The 2 Counties Motorshow at the Rowley Mile Racecourse, Newmarket, is one East Anglia’s biggest motoring events. Organised by the Local Lions club attracts very large crowds coming to see new cars from many of the local main agents, and to have look around the huge amount of classics which are always present too. As soon as I became an ‘active’ member of the SOC and started attending branch meetings (East Anglian) I had wanted to organise an event for us as a branch to attend together, and this seemed ideal and as it turned out it was a great event and an even better day out!
Preparation for the big day included me spending about 8 hours polishing my 9000 Aero to ensure it was fit to be seen alongside Andy Boorman’s magnificent 99 and 9000 Aero!  I contacted Julia Graves at Saab UK to see if I could borrow a sign or banner and she didn’t disappoint by providing us not 1 but 2 signs, which made our stand – many thanks Julia!
We had a great turnout with some cracking cars on our stand. We had (as I have already mentioned) Andy Boorman’s award winning 99, 2 9000 Aeros (mine is the Midnight Blue one!), a lovely Sonnet III (which added a certain amount of glamour), a c900 Ruby, a 9-5 Aero, a 9-3ss and a NG900. Together they looked magnificent. I was suitably proud to have organised our participation in what is a great event, and as we packed up to leave (most of  us very, very sunburnt) we agreed we had to come to back next year – I for one am looking forward to it!

Two Counties Motor Show

We as a branch are booked in to attend/exhibit at the aforementioned event at the Rowley Mile Racecourse on Sunday 26th June.  All those who would like to show their treasured Swedish beasts will need to be there by about 8.30 (sorry it’s so early) and I will include the details I have been given below,

 Arrive as early as possible i.e. 8.00 -8.30 latest at the Rowley Mile Racecourse, it is off Hamilton Road which is a turn near the Total garage in Newmarket High Street

 Proceed along the long entrance road where you will be guided to the show area The site is going to be pretty full so neat parking essential.

New Venue for 2011

Our next two meetings for 2011 (February 3 and March 3 + AGM) will now be held at this excellent hostelry:         The Fox and Hounds, Barton Road, THURSTON, Suffolk IP31 3QT  from 7pm
